Quinn Jacobson

About

Quinn Jacobson (American b. 1964) has exhibited his work in America and throughout Europe. He’s lectured and demonstrated the process from numerous groups, schools and photography organizations.

Quinn has published two books on the Wet Plate Collodion process; The Contemporary Wet Plate Collodion Experience (2006) and Chemical Pictures – a book and DVD (2009).  He’s written several articles about the process and the history of the process/photography, too. He currently operates the largest and most active Collodion forum board on the web and organizes various Collodion events for the Wet Plate community.

He holds a B.I.S. degree in Photography, Visual Art, and Communication from Weber State University – Ogden, Utah USA and an M.F.A. in Photography from Goddard College –  Plainfield, Vermont USA.

Quinn has lived in Germany since 2006 with his wife, Jeanne and daughter, Summer Joy.

Quinn says:
"Wet plate is the perfect syntax for my work. I use it as a metaphor as it relates to abandonment. The process was abandoned and forgotten, just as most marginalized people are by the mainstream. I also embrace it for its imperfections; echoing our human imperfections."
